Muscat: A ministry building was evacuated on Thursday after "wisps of smoke" triggered fire alarms, emergency services have reported.

According to a statement from the Public Authority for Civil Defence & Ambulance, “there was a small mishap inside the building of the Ministry of Municipalities and Water Resources, which led to wisps of smoke. These caused a fire alarm to ring.

“Even though no danger reached those within the building, an orderly evactuation was carried out. We in turn arrived at the scene to inspect the situation, which has since been neutralised,” the spokesperson added.”

A statement by the Ministry said, “There were no human injuries. The incident took place in the central data chamber.”
