Global mining conference to be held in October

Muscat: Mining Investment Middle East and Central Asia, the region’s main international mining conference will return to Muscat on October 9 and 10, 2017.
The conference is mainly for miners, investors and service providers.
The international profile of Mining Investment Middle East and Central Asia Mining Investment Middle East & Central Asia was first launched in Oman last year by Spire Events (Singapore) to specifically fill the gap for the need of a major international mining investment conference in the country, said a press release.
The conference had successfully achieved this objective, where more than 40 per cent of the 200 attendees were from outside Oman and majority were investors seeking new mining opportunities in Oman and the region.
For the 2017 edition, international companies and speakers have already expressed an interest in the conference and confirmed participants so far include Scania Group (Sweden), Goldcore (Ireland) and Fatemah Daneshvar (Iranian mining entrepreneur).
Besides the focus on Oman and the broader Middle East region, the 2017 edition will also shine a greater spotlight on mining opportunities available in Iran, Afghanistan and Central Asia. Miners and investors interested in these regions should thus sign up to connect with the relevant decision makers and gain greater insight on mining investment opportunities, as well as the challenges there.
Mining Investment Middle East and Central Asia had been well received by the conference attendees.
“It was important to come and reach out to other people so I try to attend as many conferences as possible... it is very interesting to have a conference here in Oman and I am happy to be here,” said Willem Middelkoop, founder of Commodity Discovery Funds (Netherlands) and a 2016 Conference speaker.
“The conference had been a terrific showcase for our company and it was well attended by influential delegates. Congratulation to Spire Events for having the initiative and foresight to undertake this conference,” said David Archer, chief executive officer of Savannah Resources.
