Handball school tournament held

Muscat: The final leg of the fourth edition of the Mitsubishi Oman Handball School Championship was held recently at the Al Buraimi Governorate.
The schools from Al Buraimi Governorate which participated included Al Buraimi School, Al Khwarizmi school, Hamasah School and Al Majid School. The final edition of the tournament matches witnessed strong competition from the participating teams.
The Mitsubishi Oman Handball School Championship is being organised by Mitsubishi Oman, represented by General Automotive Company, in association with the Oman Handball Association (OHA). General Automotive Company, which is the official distributor for Mitsubishi vehicles in Oman, is a subsidiary of the Zubair Automotive Group, the flagship enterprise of the Zubair Corporation (Z-Corp). Under the framework of augmenting public and private sector partnership, Z-Corp has been backing all the activities of Oman Handball Association since it signed an agreement in October 2015.
The championship took off last year at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher at the Muscat Governorate in which four schools participated. In the second leg of the tournament, four schools from the Al Batinah North Governorate had participated. Four schools participated in the third phase which was held at Nizwa Sports Complex in the Al Dakhiliyah Governorate. In the fourth set of championship matches that were held at Sur in the Al Sharqiyah south Governorate four schools participated. The fifth leg of the championship was held at the Sultan Qaboos Youth Complex for Culture and Entertainment in Salalah in the Dhofar Governorate. More than 312 students from different schools in the Sultanate participated in the competition.
While Al Khwarizmi school won the first place, the second place was won by Al Buraimi school. The third place was won by Hamasah School and the forth won by Al Majid School.
Since the start of the tournament, there has been a remarkable growth in the number of participating schools compared to previous years.
