Muscat: WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook are back online after being unavailable to users for about two hours.

A technical glitch caused all three social media platforms - that are owned by Facebook - to be unavailable to users across the world.

Users had taken to the internet to complain about their temporary lack of access.

"Given the temporary failure of Facebook, only for today I will take the photos home one at a time," said Gianni Fastidio, who works as a photographer.

"Facebook is in trouble, just like WhatsApp and Instagram," said Diego Enrique.

Martita Gomez added, "Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp are down for users around the world."
