1. Add a piece of fresh bread to the oil when frying potatoes, it prevents the oil from spluttering all over you.

2. Use leftover whey after making cottage cheese to make chapatti dough. Chapattis will be soft and fluffy.

3. Save cut fruit from browning: We all know that a little squeeze of lemon juice can keep apple slices from looking unappetizing. A mixture of one part honey to two parts water works much the same to keep fruit from browning and does not discolour the fruit.

4. Add 1 tablespoon gram flour in semolina to make your sooji halwa delicious.

5. While making gravy for a kofta or paneer dish, use milk instead of water for smoother gravy.
