Muscat: Teenager Subash Pillai and seasoned campaigner Suhail Khan shared the honours at the grand finals of Al Amana Building Materials Company-sponsored Annual Table Tennis Tournament organised by the Indian Social Club (ISC).
Subash claimed the men’s singles crown and Suhail together with partner Yash Tanna won the men’s doubles title.
In the men’s singles final, Subash exhibited that talent and sound temperament can overcome experience as he dug in deep into his resources and held his nerves to register a brilliant 11-9, 11-9, 7-11, 11-6, 8-11, 11-8 victory over Suhail Khan to capture the men’s singles crown to add to the men’s A title which he had won a couple of days earlier.
The triple crown eluded Subash when his campaign in the men’s doubles final ended he and partner P. Sai Saran failed to make an impression on the duo of Suhail Khan and Yash Tanna who complemented each other to claim the doubles title in straight games 11-9, 14-12, 11-7, 11-7.
R. Murali, General Manager of Al Amana Building Materials Company, the main sponsor, presided over the finals and distributed the prizes in the presence of Sajjad Mohamed Baqir of the Oman Table Tennis Committee and Dr. Sathish Nambiar, Chairman of the Indian Social Club.
