Muscat: National Gas defeated Cheers XI in a rain-hit but well-contested final to clinch the title in Jazz Boys Cricket Club-organised FRiENDi Mobile Summer Cup cricket tournament at the Al Ghura Powerplant Ground here recently.
In a match that was reduced to six-overs-a-side, Cheers XI batted first and scored 39 for the loss of four wickets in their allotted six overs.
In reply, National Gas achieved their target with one over to spare, making 40 for the loss of three wickets in five overs.
The tournament was mainly sponsored by FRiENDi Mobile and co-sponsored by Al Hajiry Group, Strabag Oman, Khurshid Trading, Greenfield Logistics and The Body Shop.
Eugen Commendant, Marketing and Sales Director of FRiENDi Mobile, Joseph Rajan, Marketing Operations Manager of FRiENDi Mobile, Vaishali Jesrani, women’s cricket coordinator of Oman Cricket, and Gayatri Suri of JBC graced the prize-giving ceremony.
Vinu Mathew, Jazz Boys Club - Organiser, congratulated the winners and thanked all the sponsors for their continued support.
