Muscat: The body of a fourth person reported missing in Sharqiyah, during the heavy floods that caused damage to some parts of Oman, has been found following a 10-day search involving emergency service personnel.

Units from the Royal Oman Police and Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority steadily increased the area of their search zone in an attempt to find the missing person.

“After intensive efforts and large-scale searches, which lasted for ten continuous days, and using modern techniques, the search teams of the Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority and field teams of the Special Task Forces in South Sharqiyah found the body of the fourth and last person reported missing in Wilayat Sur.”

The ROP added, “The body of a person reported missing in Wilayat Sur was found, after searches that lasted for 10 days, and were conducted by the Royal Oman Police and Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority.”

With continued rains expected over many parts of Oman, including Ad Dhahirah, Al Buraimi, North and South Al Batinah, and Ad Dakhiliyah, people in these areas, and others that are to receive rainfall, are requested to avoid places prone to flooding and wadi overflow.

People are also requested to stay indoors in Muscat and Al Batinah, but for a very different reason: high humidity levels in these areas could cause heat stroke and sooner-than-expected fatigue.
