Oman accident: Car ploughs into schoolboys, four injured

Muscat: Four students were injured when a driver allegedly lost control of his vehicle near a school in Mussanah on Tuesday, Royal Oman Police (ROP) reported.
"The driver lost control when he was pulling stunts and drifting and hit a stationary object before running over three school boys and injuring the car's passenger," ROP said.
The driver has been arrested and is now in custody. The boys, reported to have "moderate to severe" injuries, are being treated in hospital.
'Joyriding on the streets'
A local man who lived nearby witnessed the accident first hand.
"It was exam time and the students lived nearby so they were walking home from school instead of taking the bus" he said.
"As they were walking on the pavement next to a row of houses, they were hit by a car whose driver was joyriding on the streets," he added
"He hit the fire hydrant first with so much force that he crumpled the pipes and then smashed into the wall of the house," he said. "The front windows shattered and there is still glass everywhere".
"The students were badly hurt and taken to hospital and three of them are now okay to go home"
