Chelsea Fifa punishment complicates Kovacic future

London: Mateo Kovacic is going through a complicated moment. On the one hand, Chelsea are fighting for the Europa League and with it Champions League qualification, but it is a delicate time as they deal with the Fifa punishment of being unable to register players in the next two windows.
There are many unknowns surrounding Roman Abramovich's club and he appears more concerned with a possible sale than with making them a powerful team like they were in the past. The Croatian depends on the Court of Arbitration for Sport helping out and delaying the sanction imposed on the Blues. His deal ends on June 30 and Chelsea cannot exercise their purchase option on him if the penalty isn't reduced or delayed.
Kovacic intends to continue playing in the Premier League where he feels comfortable, happy and important, something that he sought when leaving Real Madrid last summer. His plan was to continue at Stamford Bridge where he has found what he was looking for and which he was deprived of under Zinedine Zidane at Los Blancos.
Chelsea's punishment has delayed the decision-making deadlines and his future is something that is under the microscope during the international break while he is away with his country. Several English sides have already shown an interest in signing the former Inter man, but his priority remains Chelsea. Among the other big name Croatians linked with summer moves are Ivan Rakitic and Ivan Perisic although Luka Modric's future has been put to rest after he penned a Real Madrid extension, the Spanish MARCA newspaper reported.
