Shell Development Oman unveils new training courses

Muscat: Shell Development Oman (SDO) has launched its 2019 edition of ‘Shell Professional Courses’ programme, geared towards equipping participants with vital soft skills in critical thinking and problem-solving.
The three-day, year-round courses offer Omani youth across the Sultanate — including Muscat, Sur, Salalah, Al Buraimi, Sohar and Nizwa — the chance to enhance their expertise and skills, reaffirming Shell’s commitment to training Omani youth for development.
With new courses added to the programme for the first time this season, such as a new Presentation Skills course along with advanced editions of the Public Relations and Social Media and Leadership Skills, Shell will further facilitate participants’ development. The first course this year, Change Management, gets underway in Muscat from March 25 to 27, and last year’s participants can easily enroll in the newly added advanced courses.
“Working with the local communities is integral to our strategy and we are always looking at ways to address their concerns and needs,” said Muna Al Shukaili, General Manager – External Relations and Social Investment Lead at SDO.
“These specialised courses are aimed at supporting the future generation to progress their careers, be able to work smarter and be more agile in an ever-changing business environment. A more empowered workforce not only contributes to the development of businesses but to the socio-economic development of the entire nation.”
For over 20 years, SDO has been a strong contributor and supporter of In-Country Value in the Sultanate and has strived to implement initiatives that benefit aspiring students, job seekers and those seeking professional development opportunities.
‘Shell Professional Courses’ was introduced in 2002 as part of SDO’s social investment initiative ‘Training for Development ’programme. Since then, the annual courses have provided more than 5000Omaniprofessionals from the public and private sector, SMEs along with NGOs with the support they need to succeed in their careers. Participants can now register and select from 10 specialised courses according to their professional needs.
