Expats arrested in Oman for making unhygienic food

Muscat: A number of expats have been arrested by authorities in Wilayat Suwaiq after it was discovered they were breaching food hygiene regulations in the production of traditional Omani bread, the Municipality of Northern Batinah has announced.

The arrests were made as part of an unannounced inspection campaign in the Wilayat. As a result of the violation, the restaurant was closed.

In a statement, the municipality said, "Al Suwaiq Municipality organised a surprise inspection campaign, which led to the arrest of expat workers who were producing Omani bread in an unhealthy environment."

"The facility was closed and a health violation was issued," added the municipality.
