Oman Golf: Nasaruddin emerges winner at Europcar Open Challenge

Muscat: Nasaruddin Mohamad, a member of Almouj Golf member, emerged the winner at the Europcar Open Golf Challenge organsied at Almouj Golf Course here recently.
According to a press release issued by the organisers, the fourth edition of the Europcar Open saw a very eventful game as enthusiastic golfers competed for the winning trophy and an array of different awards in other categories.
“With a record number of 92 players for the championship course for the first time and 24 on the Par 3, the tournament climaxed in an evening of celebrations as fellow golfers rejoiced their game. This year had the men’s division divided into two. Division A had a handicap index of 10 and below, while Division B had a handicap level of 10.1 and above. The tournament had a total of 18 ladies who competed in the ladies division,” the statement added.
Nasaruddin Mohamad emerged the winner in Men’s Division A with 36 stable ford points. The winner received a special Oman Air return ticket to Paris and a Mistal timepiece, amongst various other gift hampers and goodies. Giving him close competition was Yuri Gijselman of Ghala GC member with 32 stable ford points in the runners-up place.
The winner of the Men’s Division B was Danny Renihan of Almouj Golf with 36 stable ford points and he walked away with an exclusive sports watch from Mistal and other gift vouchers. In the runner-up position, not too far behind, was James O’Reilly of Muscat Hills with 34 stable ford points.
Yvonne Welling of Almouj Golf once again bagged the prize in the Ladies Division. The winner was given a luxury jewelry set from Mistal amongst other gifts. The runner-up position went to Delaney Leigh, also of Almouj Golf.
As a special token of appreciation and acknowledgment this year, National Bank Of Oman (NBO) has granted a direct entry for all the winners of this year’s Europcar Open to the prestigious ‘2017 Pro Am’ Event of NBO Golf Classic Final, as Team Europcar. NBO also gave away numerous goody bags and prizes for Beat the Pro rounds.
Richard Gross, Council General of Singapore, presided over the prize-giving ceremony and handed over the trophies in the presence of Mohammed Shakily, Senior Vice-chairman of Oman Air, Manoj Ranade, GM of Mitsubishi Motors, Llyod East, CEO of Al Ahlia Insurance, Oman’s ace golfer Azzan Al Rumhy and Rishi Khimji, Managind Director of Asha Enterprises.
The main partner sponsors for the Europcar Open were Mitusbishi Motors, Al Ahlia Insurance and Mistal who graciously supported the entire event. Mitsubishi showcased three of its vehicles, Pajero, Montero and Outlander, at the course while Travellex extended hearty Almouj Pro Shop vouchers to the Longest Drive, Nearest to the Pin and Straightest Drive winners for both men and ladies.
“We had the captains and vice-captains of Muscat Hills, Ghala and Almouj all playing for the same event. The sportsmanship, passion and energy that we saw on the course were amazing. Players from all clubs including Ras Al Hamra participated for the Europcar Open,” said Nitin Sapre, General Manager, Europcar Oman.
“This has definitely been another great year for us. Apart from our experienced golfers from last year, we even discovered some fresh talent this year. The Europcar Open will continue to serve as a platform for talented golfers to show their skills and we will continue to promote this gentleman’s game year after year.”
Ensuring that the winners were generously awarded, Grand Hyatt gave away several prizes including two gift vouchers for a splendid weekend stay to the winners and Friday brunch vouchers. The event was also supported by Mumtaz Mahal and Woodlands who gave away gift vouchers for different categories.
