#OmanPride: Times of Oman's 'I Love the Sultan' campaign hits 80,000!

Muscat: Tens of thousands of citizens and residents of Oman have come together to celebrate His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said. The month-long campaign, ‘I Love the Sultan’, has gathered more than 80,000 names with one intention in mind: loving His Majesty.
More than ten schools have participated in the campaign, as did the Oman Football Association (OFA) and RedBull.
Of the 80,000 names registered, 65 per cent of them were males, while 35 per cent were female. More than 70 per cent of the participants are residents of Muscat, and the majority of respondents are between the ages of 26 and 35. More than five different nationalities participated in the campaign, including citizens from Pakistan, Philippines and Bangladesh.
Within just the first hour, the campaign signed up some 3,500 participants. By 3pm the same day, that number had jumped more than four times to 15,000 names.
Three days before the campaign ended, the total count was at a whopping 59,487 people. Hours before registration ended, an estimated 10,000 people took time out of their lives to show their gratitude to HM.
Muscat Media Group (MMG) Chairman Mohamed Issa Al Zadjali initially predicted that the campaign would only collect 20,000 participants by the end of the month. Naturally, Al Zadjali was pleased to see 15,000 names at 3pm on the first day of the launch.
“We didn’t think that people would immediately react to the campaign. It’s very overwhelming. This is proof that locals and Omanis here and aboard truly love His Majesty.” Al Zadjali said.
Commenting on the programme, Richard Pakenham, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer for Times of Oman, noted, “This is the most inclusive media campaign ever seen in Oman, and MMG is perfectly placed to provide all the interactive channels to make it happen. We already know how much the people love His Majesty, now we can help them reflect their affection.”
Even bloggers, such as Salma Al Hajry and Halima Al Abdulsalam, helped with the programme. Government officials and company executives, such as Shura member Dr. Mohamed Al Zadjali, have also supported the campaign.
In celebration of National Day, MMG will be giving away a variety of gifts to lucky winners. The draw for the give-away will happen tomorrow and winners will be notified this week. More than 80 winners selected electronically from the 80,000 names will have the opportunity to win an auto from Suhail Bahwan Automotive, a room at the Sheraton Hotel, diamond watches from Malbar Gold, Apple Watches from Seven Store and an international holiday package by Travel Point.
