Oman's National Day: A day to remember

Muscat: His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, presided yesterday evening over the military parade, which was staged at the military parade ground in Muaskar Al Somoud of the Sultan’s Special Force (SSF) on the occasion of the Sultanate’s celebrations marking the 46th Glorious National Day.
Symbolic units representing the Sultan’s Armed Forces (SAF), the Royal Guard of Oman (RGO), the Sultan’s Special Force (SSF) and the Royal Oman Police (ROP) took part in the military parade.
Honoured to receive
Upon the arrival of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces to the parade ground, Gen. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Nu’amani, Minister of the Royal Office, Sayyid Badr bin Saud bin Harib Al Busaidi, Minister Responsible for Defence Affairs, Lt.Gen Ahmed bin Harith Al Nabhani, SAF Chief of Staff and Maj.Gen A’mir bin Salim Al Amri, Commander of SSF were honoured to receive His Majesty. Upon His Majesty’s ascension to the Royal Dais, the parade columns gave the military salute; the Royal Anthem was played by the joint military parade band while the artillery fired a twenty-one gun salute to
His Majesty.

Afterwards, the commander of parade column approached the Royal Dais asking permission from His Majesty, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces to start the military parade, which began with the joint military musical parade band that represent the corps of the SAF, RGO, ROP and Royal Court Affairs (RCA), which passed in slow and regular march before the Royal Dais.
Then, the columns of the Protocols Guard performed its military parade accompanied with music pieces of the joint military music in a regular motion passing before the Royal Dais, giving the military salute to His Majesty, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.
After that the joint military musical parade band performed various music pieces from the ancient Omani heritage as well as global music pieces. Then, the columns of the Protocols Guard chanted the call of loyalty and allegiance and proclaimed thrice long live His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.
Then, the Royal Anthem was played and the columns of the Protocols Guard gave the military Salute to His Majesty the Sultan signalling the conclusion of the military parade.
Then, His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces left the Military Parade Ground surrounded by Allah Care.
On this glorious occasion, His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces received the gift of the Sultan’s Special Force that was presented by Maj. Gen the Commander of SSF.
His Majesty the Sultan was accompanied during the parade by their highnesses, the chairmen of the State Council and Majlis A’Shura, their exellencies the ministers, advisers, commanders of SAF, RGO, SSF , ROP and the military and security apparatuses, honourable members of the State Council and members of Majlis A’Shura, the undersecretaries, the governors, judges of the Governorate of Muscat, Omani Ambassadors at the Foreign Ministry, heads of diplomatic missions of the sisterly and friendly countries accredited to the Sultanate
and walis.
The parade was also attended by military attaches, senior military commanders and officers, senior officials in the state, a number of sheikhs and dignitaries and a number of commissioned and non-commissioned officers and personnel of SAF, RGO, SSF, ROP, RCA and other security apparatuses in the state.
