Indian Social Club to reintroduce one-act play competition in Oman

Muscat: A popular one-act play competition, which used to be a major attraction in the Indian Social Club’s (ISC’s) cultural calendar, will be reintroduced this year.
The competition, which used to attract many talented artistes performing unique plays, was discontinued for a few years.
However, due to much demand from the art loving members of the club, this event will be restarted. The one-act competition will be open to all residents of Oman, who are of Indian origin.
Teams are required to submit their entries no later than November 15. The list of artistes, on-stage and back-stage, and the synopsis of the play in English and Arabic, along with a copy of the full script in English, should be submitted with the entry form.
The competition shall be governed by the rules laid down by the Ministry of Heritage and Culture and a detailed set of rules for the competition will be available at the ISC reception.
Participants are advised to study the rules first and then apply after confirming that the script they wish to pursue adheres to the competition’s rules.
The play can be in any Indian Language or English. No entries will be accepted after the cut-off date of November 15.
The competition will begin on January 20, said Shakeel K.M., honorary joint cultural secretary of ISC, Oman.
