British Embassy delighted to be part of EduTraC Oman

Muscat: British Embassy in Oman has said it is ‘delighted’ to be part of EduTraC Oman, the nation’s largest education, training and human resources convention, set to take place from October 18 to 20 at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Speaking to the Times of Oman, Allison Young, commercial attaché for the British Embassy, said, “We at the British Embassy and the UK Department for International Trade, along with the British Council, are delighted to support the EduTraC Oman exhibition.”
“EduTraC Oman will assist in developing long-term partnerships between Omani students and UK educational institutions. 38 reputed British higher education institutions are exhibiting at EduTraC this week, and the United Kingdom’s pavilion has been organised by the British Council,” she added.
“Educational ties between the United Kingdom and the Sultanate have strengthened over the past few years. There are more Omani students opting to study in the United Kingdom than any other country,” she continued.
“This highlights that the relationship between our countries is not just historic, but also focused on the future through the development of talent of young Omanis and building personal relationships that will be valuable for many years to come.”
The event has also gained the support of many international organisations, including Education USA, the British Council, the Ministry of Education and Culture—Cyprus, The Training Gateway and AIESEC Oman.
Representatives from the UK, the US, Malaysia, Cyprus, Lebanon, Qatar, Spain and India will be participating at EduTraC, which also serves as a recruitment expo for companies in the region.
The British Ambassador to Oman, Jonathan Wilks, will be attending the opening ceremony of the event, which is being held under the patronage of the Ministry of Manpower.
Hamad bin Khamis bin Abdullah Al Amri, the undersecretary for the Ministry, will officially inaugurate EduTraC 2016.
“Education not only helps us progress in life, but also makes people aware of their rights and duties towards the nation,” said Al Amri. “It provides many opportunities in various fields for the development of the country and also makes people independent, builds confidence and self-esteem, which is very important for the development of a country.
“EduTraC Oman is a great event and platform to improve the quality of human resources of Oman and build a better economy.”
