Prominent leader Sitaram Yechury to address Indian community in Oman

Muscat: Prominent leader and Member of Indian parliament Sitaram Yechury will be addressing the Indian community in Oman on October 21.
Yechury, who is the general secretary of the Communist Party of India (Maxist) will be giving a key note address during the Sree Narayana Guru Memorial Lecture organised by the Indian Social Club - Kerala Wing at the Crystal Suites Hotel in Al Wadi Al Kabir at 6pm.
Past years speakers for the program include Prakash Karat, M.R. Raghava Warrior, Dr. Rajan Gurukkal, KEN Kunjahammed and Prof. K.N. Panicker etc.
"Though Indian Social Club-Oman Kerala Wing had organized many events in the past with visiting public figures from India at various occasions; the scale, gathering magnitude, and the media focus to the lecture session on 21st would be unmatched due to the prominence of topic and reputation of speaker", P.M. Jabir, Chairman of the organizing committee stated.
Lecture session is a persistent event of Kerala Wing to mark the revival of social reformation of Kerala over a century back and its ripples today. Sree Narayana Guru led a social transformation movement in Kerala, rejected caste system, and promoted new values of spiritual freedom and a broader social equality.
Sree Narayana Guru stressed the need for the spiritual and social uplift of the downtrodden by their own efforts through the establishment of cultural and educational institutions. In the process, he denounced the superstitions that clouded the fundamental cultural convention of caste.
At a wider political spectrum of Indian society, the social reformation of India is being discussed in length across India due to variants of approaches with regards to complete eradication of dire depth of social inequality among rural poor. India’s growth story is grossly misinterpreted in terms of GDP growth rather them uplift from abject poverty and cast politics of masses.
Yechury, a well known speaker on range of topics such as impacts of globalisation, neo-liberalization and sectarian politics; he opposes those policies as on long run, these factors would add to the misery of working class poor of India rather than empowering them.
First of such event is getting organized in Gulf and it is a proud moment to host a personality such as Yechury organisers stated in the press meet.
