Oman launches ferry service to Bandar Abbas port in Iran

Muscat: National Ferries Company (NFC) yesterday launched from Khasab Port in the Governorate of Musandam its second regional destination to Bandar Abbas city of Iran through a two-hour journey using the Ferry ‘Al Halaniyat’.
The launching was held under the auspices of Dr. Ali bin Masud Al Sunaidy, Minister of Commerce and Industry and Chairman of the Omani/Iranian Joint Committee and Jassem Jadri, Governor of Hormozgan Governorate.
NFC will operate four weekly journeys on the new route which will attract transit good from the countries using the international axis for transport and exit. The route will facilitate access to world markets and ensure secure travel at journeys that abide by international standards related to safety transport of goods and passengers, as well as environment protection.
Dr. Ali bin Masud Al Sunaidy, Minister of Commerce and Industry said that the launching of the marine route (Khasab-Bandar Abbas) aims to transport goods between the two countries in two hours . He added that goods, fresh and chilled foods may be then transported to Shinas, Diba and then to Muscat.
The launching ceremony was attended by a number of Omani businessmen and others.
