Oman gears up to promote its products in Iran market

Muscat: The sixth edition of Omani Products Exhibition (OPEX) is scheduled to be held in Tehran, Iran from September 26 to 30 as the organising committee of OPEX has begun its marketing campaign in the Iranian capital to promote the upcoming event.
This was informed at a coordination meeting with business owners on Wednesday at Waljat College of Applied Sciences in the Knowledge Oasis Muscat (KOM).
The meeting discussed the latest updates of the preparations for the exhibition, and the business owners and industrialists were briefed about the participation process, participation advantages, the Iranian market, and the provided support.
As per the marketing plan, advertisements and appearance on the Iranian media will be extensive before the exhibition begins. The committee also informed that a press conference will be organised next month in Tehran to brief the Iranians on the exhibition and its objectives.
Addressing the business owners at the meeting, Ayman Al Hasani, vice-chairman for Economic and Branches Affairs at Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) and chairman of the OPEX Organising Committee, emphasised on the significance of the Iranian market which constantly hosts international exhibitions.
“By organising the next OPEX event in Tehran, we do not only aim at showcasing the Omani products but also to get familiarised with the manufacturing, investment and export opportunities in the Iranian market and the surrounding markets alike,” Al Hasani pointed out.
“The support that OPEX receives from the government is essential, and Dr Ali bin Masoud Al Sunaidi, minister of commerce and industry has always been close and involved during the preparations for these exhibitions, which has greatly contributed to solving many challenges facing the Omani business owners and investors in the various markets where OPEX was organised. This shall also be ensured in OPEX in Iran through cooperation between the various bodies in the two countries,” Al Hasani said
“Besides, the committee is working towards providing facilities and services for the participating companies during the exhibition including logistics matters, hotels and translation services. Coordination is also underway to organise B2B meetings between the investors from the two countries during the event. There is also a continuous coordination with the embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Sultanate to facilitate visa issuance for the participants,” he added.
It should be noted that Iran enjoys dynamic local markets and a significant population touching around 77.45 million people according to 2013 census. The event aspires at enhancing trade ties between Oman and Iran following the lifting of international sanctions on the latter.
Organised by a committee formed by Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE), Public Authority for Investment Promotion and Export Development (Ithraa), and Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), the exhibition to be held in Tehran, Iran will provide an apt avenue for Iranian importers, agents, distributors, re-exporters of products with an excellent opportunity to meet, network and sign up with the exporters directly. The event will also provide an opportunity for networking with the Omani government authorities responsible for promotion and export development of Omani products.
Building upon the success of the fifth OPEX held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and the previous ones in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia; Dubai, United Arab Emirates; and previous to that in Doha, Qatar; and before that in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; the exhibition showcases Omani manufacturing companies highlighting and introducing a variety of high quality products and services.
