454 workers arrested for labour law violation in Oman

Muscat: Over 400 labour law violators were arrested during last week, according to the weekly index issued by the Ministry of Manpower.
“454 labour law violators were arrested during the period between August 7 and 13. Among them, there were 353 commercial workers, 45 farmers and 56 domestic workers,” the statement from the ministry added.
The index shows that out of the 454 violators, 437 were arrested by the manpower inspection team. After further investigations 234 violators were found to be absconded, 199 released from their workplace and four were referred to by a third party.
Muscat Governorate recorded the highest number of labor law violators with 162 followed by North Al Batinah Governorate with 106; the appropriate authorities and the Ministry of Manpower took all necessary procedures regarding their situations.
Meanwhile, the ministry also deported 318 labor law violators after coordinating with their respective embassies.
