Muscat: National Ferries Company (NFC) will start the first journey from the Port of Khasab in the Governorate of Musandam to Bahman Port in the island of Qeshm and Bahonar Port in Bandar Abbas in the Islamic Republic of Iran on July 28. The trip would be two-way four times a week.
NFC will operate Al Halaniyat ferry for the first journey, which can accommodate up to 100 passengers and is equipped with the highest comfort and latest safety equipment. Al Halaniyat will sail on Thursday at 9 am and return on the same day at 2 pm. The second journey will begin on Saturday at 7 am and return at 12 pm on the same day.
An official source in the company said that citizens and residents who wish to travel to Bandar Abbas should take into account the procedures for obtaining a visa through accredited travel agents whose addresses are available at the consular section of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Visa processing
The source told Oman News Agency (ONA) that with respect to passengers from the Iranian side to the Sultanate, the procedures for obtaining a visa will be processed through the consular section of the Embassy of the Sultanate in the Islamic Republic of Iran or companies and tourist offices in the Sultanate within the framework of the electronic visa system.
The source pointed out that travellers to the island of Qeshm do not need visa as it is a free economic zone.
The NFC source explained that residents in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), who are in the managerial position and above level or similar to them and wishing to travel to Bandar Abbas, should start the procedures for obtaining a visa-on- arrival at the Sultanate’s border centre at (Tibat).
They should complete the procedures for obtaining the visa to Iran before arriving into the
Sultanate.
The source affirmed that all travellers need to prepare for an early check-in, which includes visa, tickets booking from the National Ferries Company offices in Muscat, Shinas, Khasab, Shanah and Masairah.
