Muscat: Diners at ‘Jashn- A Celebration Called India’ restaurant in al Khuwair were recently treated to a divine culinary experience by Chef Ajay Chopra, a celebrity chef from India who was recently in Oman, cooking mouth-watering delicacies.
For six days, the chef cooked a 12-course ‘Chef’s Tasting Menu’, which was well appreciated by diners. The menu included some of the chef’s favourites, which he tweaked to create innovative delights.
Chef Ajay is an acclaimed culinary expert. His love and passion for food has helped him grow as a modern Indian chef, becoming one of the most celebrated chefs in the Indian television and food industry today.
“The 12 course tasting menu at Jashn was magical, as traditional Indian cuisine saw a revamp with exquisite new flavours. For the first time, we were confused by the ingredients present in some dishes, which was amazing. We truly believe Jashn's tag line - a celebration called India.” said Bosky Dutia and Sami al Salmi, administrators of Oman Restaurant Review, a Facebook group.
According to Deepak Daryani, Managing Director at Jashn, diners were very happy to have Chef Ajay cook for them at the restaurant and were awestruck by his charming and humble personality.
“We have a long term contract with the chef and, hopefully, he will be here every three months, so diners can look forward to great culinary experiences during his visits here,” Daryani said.
“This is a new beginning for us. We launched this restaurant last year and we are a one of a kind standalone restaurant with the plating technique. We are focused on consistent quality and good service, and we brought in molecular gastronomy, which is a bit of science added to Indian food. Shortly, we will also have many different sauces- plum sauce, apply chutney and pineapple chutney.” he added.
