Qatar Development Fund, Oman's MEDRC sign deal

Muscat: An agreement was signed today between Qatar Development Fund (QDF) and Middle East Desalination Research Center (MEDRC) by which the Fund will provide important subsidy for MEDRC’s projects in Palestine and Jordan.
The agreement was signed in the presence of Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Secretary General of the Foreign Ministry.
The activities that will be subsidised by QDF include the training of Palestinian and Jordanian water experts, evaluating and supporting the efforts made by MEDRC on desalination researche and water treatment in the Wadi of Jordan.
The subsidy also includes maintenance of the water desalination and treatment plants in Gaza strip and high quality training for Palestinian and Jordanian water experts in MEDRC’s premises in Muscat.
Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Secretary General of the Foreign Ministry and Chairman of the Executive Council for MEDRC said in a statement “the sisterly State of Qatar is an important member of the Executive Council of the Center. It has an internationally recognised role in supporting research and innovation.
The Sultanate and Qatar join hands in the Center to find practical solutions for the fresh water scarcity by supporting the researches and training on new and sustainable technologies for water desalination. He added that the agreement for today will focus on a number of projects that will help to develop water sector and build the capacities in this vital field in Palestine and Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
The CEC of MEDRC expressed his appreciation to QDF for its generous contribution, which will have a great effect in this context.
Ali bin Fahd Al Hajri, Qatar’s Ambassador to Oman said that Qatar hails its membership at the Executive Council of MEDRC and thanks the Sultanate for hosting this centre.
He expressed the sisterly State of Qatar’s pride in supporting developing cooperation in Palestine and Jordan.
