Oman education: Expo to focus on prospects of higher studies in Sultanate

Muscat: To highlight the surge in the Sultanate’s higher education sector, EduTraC Oman 2015, a three-day event, will take place under the patronage of Ministry of Higher Education, Ministry of Civil Services and Ministry of Manpower.

EduTraC Oman 2015 will feature a pavilion focussed on the prospects of studying in Oman.

The expo will be open to visitors from 12-14 October, 2015 at the Oman International Exhibition Centre from 10am to 1pm and 4:30pm to 9pm.

“Education has been one of the first and most prominent benefits accompanying the development of modern Oman. Significant developments are occurring in higher education arena under the wise leadership of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, the architect of modern Oman,” according to a press statement issues by the organisers.



“The Sultanate has been instrumental in introducing these education reforms since the dawn of modern renaissance - a new era in the development of modern education,” the statement said.

This year, the Ministry of Higher Education declared 28,000 scholarships for Omani Students, thus triggering an increase in the number of students pursuing higher studies in Oman’s leading educational institutions,” it added.

International support

EduTraC Oman 2015 is supported by Education USA, Embassy of the United States of America, Education Malaysia, UK Trade & Investment, British Council, Educational Consultants India Limited (Ed.CIL), and the Ministry of Education & Culture Cyprus. For the first time, Oman Academic Accreditation Authority (OAAA) will participate as the Associate Partner and Apple Inc as the Education Technology Partner.

Said Amur Al-Rahbi,-Director of Qualifications Equivalence & Recognition Department, Ministry of Higher Education, was quoted as saying, “EduTraC Oman 2015 will feature a focused pavilion for “Study in Oman” offering an opportune platform for the local universities to connect with students and offer information about the college/university’s quality programmes, courses and curriculum.

“The Ministry of Higher Education is extremely delighted to support the second edition of EduTraC Oman and invites all local institutions to participate at the ‘Study in Oman Pavilion’ and strengthen the institution’s presence in Oman’s vibrant higher education market.”

Sponsors at EduTraC Oman 2015 are Majan College (University College) as the Diamond Sponsor.
