Salalah: The College of Applied Sciences, Salalah is organising a two-day symposium on 'Tourism Opportunities and Challenges in Dhofar' from December 18-19, 2012.
International and national scholars are invited to participate in the symposium. Twelve international participants and 34 participants from Sultanate of Oman will deliberate during the symposium.
Symposium objectives are to discover the opportunities available and challenges arising concerning the tourism industry in Dhofar and to provide inputs for policy and decision-makers regarding developing tourism products in Dhofar.
The focus areas of the symposium are developing demand and supply issues of tourism industry in Dhofar especially those relating to tourism activities and resources available such as: ecotourism, adventure tourism, heritage tourism and geological tourism.
Recently, six government colleges of education in Oman were transformed into College of Applied Sciences with different areas of specialisation. In addition, the medium of instruction from Arabic was changed to English.
The college is working at the implementation of quality assurance system aiming to further enhance both the substance and quality of services being offered to the students. The college has well equipped labs and library and resources centre (LRC).
