Bank of Beirut sponsors charity ride for disabled
December 9, 2012 | 12:00 AM

Muscat: Bank of Beirut was the platinum sponsor for a charity ride commemorating the 'International Day of Persons with Disabilities'. This sponsorship embodies the spirit of service that is a vital part of the bank's ethics.

The one-hour ride was organised in the Grand Hyatt, Shatti Al Qurum, on December 7 at 3pm. Black Eagles, the popular bikers club's local chapter, took part in the ride. Biking enthusiasts and people from across the country were there to show their solidarity and support for people with special needs in Oman.

The fund raised through sponsorship and profits from merchandise sale was donated to the Oman Association for the Disabled.  According to Ramy Zambarakji, managing director of Bank of Beirut,

"The ride for the disabled is a fantastic cause and we truly believe it encourages genuine feelings for the disabled people. It helps in removing barriers to create an inclusive and accessible society for all. In many countries disabled people are considered the 'last of the last' but events like this increase their self-confidence and encourage them to become productive members of the society.

It presents an opportunity to ensure that the rights, concerns and contributions of persons with disabilities are fully taken into account." Bank of Beirut, on its part, will continue to support individuals and organisations that work towards a more equitable society where every person can make the best of all opportunities available.
