Muscat: Amer Al Maashani continued his unbeaten run to help Oman rout Bhutan at the ongoing Chess Olympiad in Norway on Friday.

According to information received here, the Sultanate, who came up against a relatively weaker opposition that in the previous rounds, blanked Bhutan 4-0 for their second victory in six outings.

Amer Al Maashani, who prior to Friday's sixth round match-up had won three points with a victory and two draws, had to sit out in the fifth round on Wednesday when the Sultanate squad lost to Thailand by a 3-1 margin.

On Friday he returned with a renowned vigour and brushed aside the challenge of his Bhutanese opponent Binod Rai in quick time to give Oman the lead. The match-up also provided Amin Al Ansi and Said Fadhil an opportunity to taste international success as the former accounted for Anad Rai while the latter defeated Cheda.

Meanwhile, Salim Amri, who earned a point in Oman's maiden Olympiad win against Ethiopia, defeated Wangchuk to make it 4-0 for Oman.
