Muscat: Minister of Commerce and Industry Ali bin Masoud Al Sunaidy says more recreation facilities are required in Oman and more mega malls are expected to come up in the next couple of years.

"There is still a potential for growth in tourism, and amusement parks are what we are missing, especially given that people have spending power now. That is why sometimes when they do not get it here, they go to other countries," said Al Sunaidy.

The minister also said that more mega malls are expected in the next five years or so, considering the increased tendency to shop at large malls. "This is probably what you will see outside Muscat. It started in Muscat but it is an area which is going to grow in bigger cities outside Muscat." He noted that there is untapped potential for investment in some downstream industries, food and food-packing, minerals, services sector and specialised training, education and healthcare.
