Muscat: The recently released action, thriller and comedy film Kick, by producer Sajid Nadiadwala, is running to packed houses in various theatres in town, including City Cinema Ruwi since the start of Eid holidays.

City Cinema Ruwi has had house-full showings since the release of the Hindi film last week. This is, in fact, the seventh consecutive blockbuster flick released this year starring Salman Khan in the lead role. Movie buffs are also impressed with ace producer Sajid Nadiadwala's directorial debut with Kick.  Talking to Times of Oman, Ghanshyam Chaudhary, manager of City Cinema Ruwi, said his cinema hall had run 14 shows on the first day of Eid, all of which were house full. On Wednesday, it ran 15 shows, which were also full. No other cinema complex runs more than 10 shows per day.

He noted that the film had become a runaway hit since its release on July 24, leaving the 1,000-seat capacity hall in Ruwi full throughout the day. The release had been timed to coincide with the Eid holidays, but crowds had started thronging the cinema hall even before the official declaration of Eid holidays.

On Thursday, nine shows ran, starting from 12:30pm, while eight shows ran on Friday, starting from 2:30pm. The movie is a major production with all the right elements to attract movie buffs. It could be the biggest hit of the year, said Chaudhary.

Kick is a Hindi remake of a Telugu film of the same name. Salman Khan, in the lead, stars alongside Jacqueline Fernandez, Randeep Hooda and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. The screenplay was adapted by Sajid Nadiadwala and novelist Chetan Bhagat.
