Muscat:An Omani national set ablaze three trucks belonging to Galfar Construction Company in the wilayat of Sadah in Dhofar governorate, on Friday. The accused was taken into custody last week and was later released on bail. Earlier, in October, the Salalah Primary Court had ordered the accused to pay RO400,000 as compensation to Galfar Construction Company after he had set two trucks belonging to the same company afire. The residents of Sadah expressed their surprise over the huge amount of money ordered as compensation. Sources said the company had promised jobs to 50 residents of Sadah at the time of launching of its project in Sadah but it failed to keep its promise. The accused claimed that he owns the land where the project has been launched but he did not have any documents to substantiate his claims. After heated arguments with the company, he set three more trucks belonging to the company on fire. The accused has been referred to Ibn Sina Hospital for a check-up of his mental status as the residents claim he is suffering from psychological illness. No casualties were reported in the fire.
