Muscat Securities Market Index edges higher

Muscat: MSM30 index closed at 7191.85 points, marginally up by 0.02 per cent. MSM Sharia Index closed at 1067.34 points, down by 0.19 per cent.

Al Madina Investment was the most active in terms of volume while Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of   turnover.  Financial Services was the top gainer of the day with 7.04 per cent gain while National Securities was the top loser and closed down by 8.05 per cent.

A total number of 1360 trades were executed in yesterday's trading session generating turnover of OMR6.77 million with over 19.24 million shares traded. Out of 49 traded stocks, 15 advanced, 18 declined and 16 were unchanged. At the session close, Omani investors were net buyers for OMR669,000 followed by foreign investors for OMR205,000 while GCC & Arab investors were net sellers for OMR875,000 worth of shares.

Financial Sector Index was marginally down by 0.02 per cent at 8829.12 points. Financial Services, Al Anwar Holding, Bank Muscat and Bank Dhofar increased by 7.04 per cent, 4.09 per cent, 1.74 per cent and 1.02 per cent respectively. National Securities, Al Madina Investment , Al Madina Takaful and Ahlid Bank declined by 8.05 per cent, 4.67 per cent, 2.40 per cent, 2.01 per cent and 1.75 per cent respectively.

The Industrial Sector Index was up by 0.19 per cent at 10111.73 points. Oman Fisheries, Construction Material Industries , Jazeera Steel Product and National Aluminium increased by 2.11 per cent, 1.92 per cent, 1.91 per cent and 0.40 per cent respectively.
