Muscat: Directorate General of Meteorology and Air Navigation (DGMAN) denied what some social networking sites said about the presence of a cyclone in the Arabian Sea. "There is no cyclone in Arabian sea," an official said.
This comes after some social networking sites said that a low pressure will form in Arabian sea and is going to intensify into a big cyclone and will hit Oman on June 13. "There are some movements of low clouds in the Arabian sea but there are no signs of a cyclone as yet," the official said.
Meanwhile Indian Meteorological Department said that a low pressure is expected to form in Arabian Sea around June 8, 2014. "This may or may not benefit India with monsoon depending upon its movement," it said.
The official of DGMAN, however, stressed that it follows closely the weather through weather forecasts that are broadcast via state media on a daily basis and therefore the DGMAN urges citizens and residents to follow weather forecasts to get information about weather from the official authorities. "People should verify information and follow daily weather broadcasts," the official said.
