Muscat: Fire fighters have brought under control a major fire that broke out in a plastic factory in Mabela near Seeb, the Public Authority for Civil Defence and Ambulance (PACDA) has informed.

The fire broke out early on Thursday and reason for the fire is still not known.

Apart from fire engines, helicopters were used to extinguish the fire.

Officials of PACDA who tweeted live informed that no one has been injured.

"While fire on one side of the factory was extinguished, the fire on one side took a little while," said an official.

PACDA officials have urged people not to spread rumours.

Before the fire engines arrived, civilians and water tanker owners also helped in trying to extinguish the fire.
