Muscat: Oman Air is offering new graduates an opportunity to pursue a thrilling career in the aviation industry as it renews its recruitment drive in Oman.
As part of its policy of providing ever more job opportunities to Omani citizens, the Sultanate's national carrier recently organised an open day at the Sultan Qaboos University in Muscat. The initiative helped focus on Oman Air's efforts.
The event elicited a good response from both students and fresh graduates, who were invited so that they could seek more information about Oman Air and the vast range of career opportunities it offers.
Staff from the airline was on hand to offer advice and guidance and Oman Air's Chief Officer of Human Resources, Dr Rashid Al Ghailani, was impressed by the calibre of those who attended.
He commented, "Sultan Qaboos University is a highly prestigious institute and the students we met at the recent open day event were highly motivated top achievers and demonstrated great potential for a career in the airline industry.
"We look forward to receiving formal job applications, and to welcoming the successful candidates to Oman Air's growing workforce."
Around two thirds of Oman Air's current workforce comprises Omani citizens and the airline aims to increase that figure, in line with the Sultanate of Oman's policy of Omanisation. This requires employers to provide much-needed employment and career progression opportunities for Oman's youthful population.
Oman Air's renewed recruitment drive comes as the airline prepares for the arrival later this year of the first of the 20 new aircraft it currently has on order and the subsequent expansion programme that they will enable.
Sultan Qaboos University is Oman's first public university and was established through Royal Decree.
The university was opened in 1986 and started with five colleges, namely medicine, engineering, agriculture, education and science.
