Muscat: alizz islamic bank officially launched a free mobile banking application to provide better services to customers, becoming the first Islamic bank in the country to launch such an app.
Addressing an event to launch the application here yesterday, Saif Al Yarabi, acting chief executive officer of alizz bank, said that the bank developed the programme to meet the demands of its customers.
"We continue to expand our offerings to our customers. This is just the beginning of much more to come."
The application is now available on iOS and Android devices. The new Android and iPhone applications join alizz islamic bank's other digital channels: corporate website, online banking, SMS text, Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.
To log on to the app, customers should be an alizz islamic bank personal online banking customer.
Customers can register for online banking at www.alizzislamic.com. To download, customers can visit the Android market from their smartphone or visit https://market.android.com from their browser, and then search for 'alizz' to find the app. Once the app has been downloaded, customers can click on the 'alizz' icon to access free mobile banking.
In addition to the advantages of time effectiveness, user-friendliness and security, the use of mobile banking provides an added dimension to the future of banking communications.
The new app will deliver secure bank account access to alizz islamic bank personal customers who have signed up for its online banking service. The app will also give users access to online banking services, including the facility to view balance and review one's transaction history.
alizz bank's customers can view transactions on user's credit cards, finance and deposits.
Users of both iPhone and Android app will also be able to transfer between user's accounts, other alizz islamic bank accounts, accounts at user's other bank and accounts at banks locally and internationally.
The app also features an ATM and branch locator and offers quick dial to customer service.
Speaking to the Times of Oman on the sidelines of the ceremony, the acting chief executive officer of alizz bank, said that the added value is that customers would no longer need to waste time and money to get to the bank to do a simple transaction. "You can receive whatever services you want through the app."
The application was designed by the internal team of the bank, Al Yarabi said.
Asked how safe the application is, he said that it has gone through all the security checks. "Otherwise we would not have launched it."
