Muscat: Four people of Asian nationality who had kidnapped a compatriot were arrested in North Batinah.
Sohar Police Station had received a report that an Asian man had been kidnapped by unknown persons who had asked for ransom to release him.
Royal Oman Police (ROP) team raided the location and freed the victim, arresting the four accused.
Meanwhile, the Investigation and Criminal Investigation Department of ROP arrested a citizen for mugging a woman of her purse in the Wilayat of Khabourah. The accused mugged the woman's purse when she was entering a shop and escaped. She had OMR700 in cash and personal documents in her purse. After search and investigation, the accused was arrested and he confessed to his crime. The case has been referred to the Public Prosecution for further investigation and trial.
ROP also managed to arrest a bootlegger in Hamriyah area of the Wilayat of Muttrah. A total of 64 bottles of liquor and 20 cans were seized from the room of the accused in the home of an expatriate. Legal action has been initiated against the accused.
Held for theft
A man was arrested after he vandalised a citizen's vehicle and stole some valuables from it. The accused was arrested after search and investigation and was referred to the Public Prosecution for trial.
ROP also arrested a woman of Asian nationality on the charges of indulging in prostitution in the Wilayat of Seeb. A report was received by ROP that the woman was indulging in prostitution in an apartment in Seeb. After keeping a watch on the place, the ROP raided the flat and arrested the woman.
One person was arrested in the Wilayat of Shinas on the charges of drug trafficking, and 280 tablets of Tramadol along with hashish and heroin were recovered from his house. The accused has been referred to the Public Prosecution for trial.
