May the best team win, says Pakistan envoy ahead of crucial hockey clash

Muscat: Pakistan’s top representative to Oman has wished both nations’ hockey teams the best of luck as face each other in a crucial Asian Champions League match in Muscat this evening.

Ali Javed, the Ambassador of Pakistan to Oman, wished the teams ahead of their match at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex this evening, with the game set to begin at 9:10 pm local time.

“I wish to acknowledge that the 5,000 year old relationship between Oman and Pakistan establishes an extraordinary linkage,” he said. “Both nations are also great hockey-playing nations as their national outfits go head to head today in the Asian Champions Trophy, which is being contested in the beautiful city of Muscat.

“I can only wish best of luck to both teams and only hope that the better team will win. In the end, it will be a victory for our two people, our two great nations and the great sport of hockey,” he added.

Pakistan are currently third in the table after playing two games, having won and lost one apiece. Oman are at the bottom with two defeats, and this game represents an opportunity for them to climb up the table.
The other teams involved include India, Malaysia, Japan and South Korea
