Muscat: The bodies of three women and a man who died in an accident in Saudi Arabia on early morning Tuesday while on their way to perform Umrah have been repatriated to Muscat on Wednesday evening on board an Oman Air flight, Dr Ahmed bin Hilal al Busaidy, Sultanate's Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, said.

The envoy added the eight other injured are still receiving medical treatment in Saudi hospitals and that an investigation is underway to ascertain the reasons behind the crash.

"The accident occurred when the driver of the microbus carrying 15 Omanis lost control over the vehicle and crashed into a truck and was then hit by three other trucks coming from behind. The powerful impact of the crash completely damaged the microbus. All the victims hail from the Wilayat of Al Rustaq and are close relatives," Al Busaidy added.
