Iranian firm joins hands with PSC to manage Khasab port

Muscat: The Port Services Corporation (PSC) recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Kaveh Port and Marine Services to enter into a partnership for managing and operating Port of Khasab in the Musandam governorate.

Kaveh Port and Marine Services is one of the leading Iranian companies in managing and operating ports, marine transport and logistics in Iranian market. The company is operating six ports in different regions in Iran, including the activities of handling containers, general cargo, logistics and railway, marine and land transport, said a release.

Upon signing the MoU, within three weeks the Iranian company will review the study carried out by the corporation in respect of the feasibility of managing and operating Port of Khasab. Thereafter, the company will provide the business plan, development requirements, infrastructure in terms of berths, drafts, storage areas required in the port in addition to the business volume which the company will bring to Port of Khasab.

The MoU was signed on behalf of Port Services Corporation by Saud bin Ahmed Al Nahari, chief executive officer of PSC and on behalf of the Iranian company by Mohammed S Kaveh, chairman and managing director.

Port Services Corporation had earlier signed a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Transport and Communications in order to study the feasibility of managing and operating Port of Khasab.
