Muscat: Salam Stores, in collaboration with Dar Al Atta'a announced their first quarterly initiative "Talent for Humanity" at a press conference held in Salam Stores. The event was headed by Joseph Faddour, general manager- Salam Stores, Afrah Siddiq, customs relations manager- Salam Stores and May Al Bayat, marketing director – Dar Al Atta'a.
Talent for Humanity is a designing competition aimed to support young talent in Oman and at the same time an initiative to give back to the community. The top 10 T-shirt designs selected from all entries in the competition were on display at Salam Stores and their designers were present to explain their creations to the audience. 8 of the entries selected were designed by students from the Higher College of Engineering, and only 1 male designer's entry made it to the top 10.
The designs will be subjected to voting by the public on 22nd December from 5-9pm. The winning entry will be selected after considering the public's votes as well as the judges' opinion. Siddiq and Bayyat will be judging the competition and the winner will be announced after 9pm on 22nd December. The winning entry will be on sale for a month at Salam Store. Each T-shirt will cost approximately RO15 and the proceeds generated will be donated for making school uniforms for the under-privileged children.
Bayat said that that she was very happy with this collaboration with Salam Stores and that it meant a lot to see students showing such initiative in taking part for a good cause, despite receiving no revenue in return.
Rehan Al Balushi, one of the designers, praised Dar Al Atta for their endeavour as it not only gave encouragement to upcoming designers, but was also working towards a good cause.
