Two-day holiday for govt, private sector

Muscat: Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal bin Saud Al Busaidi, Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court and Chairman of the Civil Service Council yesterday issued a decision for the holiday of the 42nd Glorious National Day.

The decision said: "On the occasion of the 42nd Glorious National Day and as per the Royal Orders of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, it was decided that November 27 (Tuesday) and November 28 (Wednesday), 2012 will be official holidays for the employees of the ministries, public authorities and other departments of the State administrative apparatus. Work will resume on December 1 (Saturday).

The Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court extended his congratulations to His Majesty the Sultan, praying to Allah the Almighty to protect His Majesty, grant him good health, happiness and a long life and for the return of this and similar occasions on His Majesty for many years to come and the Omani people and dear country further progress and prosperity under His Majesty's wise leadership.

Private sector
Meanwhile, Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser Al Bakri, Manpower Minister yesterday issued a ministerial decision stating that the holiday for the 42nd Glorious National Day in the private sector's companies and establishments will start on November 28 (Wednesday) till the end of November 29 (Thursday) and work will resume on December 1 (Saturday).

The decision allows employers and employees to agree on work arrangements, if necessity arises, and the employees whose weekly day off coincides with the holiday of the aforesaid occasion must be compensated.

Employees at the private sector extended their congratulations to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, praying to Allah the Almighty to protect His Majesty, grant him good health, happiness and a long life and for the return of this and similar occasions on His Majesty, the Omani people with welfare and blessings.
