Bishkek: A late equaliser from Kyrgyzstan skipper Aidar spoiled Oman's party as the AFC Under-16 Championship 2014 qualifying Group F host drew 3-3 with the Sultanate side yesterday.
The match at the Dolen Omurzakov Stadium in Bishkek remained 3-2 with Oman leading until the 89th minute when Aidar scored the third goal for Kyrgyzstan to rescue them from defeat.
Earlier in the match, Oman opened account in the 10th minute of first half when forward Yazod Al Siyabi scored the goal. But Kyrgyzstan returned to equalise in the 31st minute of first half when midfielder Almaz scored first of his two goals. Kyrgyzstan's Ernist scored the second goal for his side in the 35th minute to take a 2-1 lead.
In the second half, Omani players came back strongly to score two back-to-back goals. In the 72nd minute, midfielder Salah Al Yahyaei's stunning goal gave Oman the much needed spirit. Five minutes later, Yazod who is in brilliant form scored his second goal of the match to help Oman take a 3-2 lead.
Speaking to the media after the match, Oman coach Yaqoob Al Sabahi praised his side's fitness level against a strong host. "I must credit my boys for playing 95 minutes of entertaining football. I think both the sides played with equal importance. It is not good to comment which team was better. My boys have played a brilliant game. We should have won this game but in football anything can happen," Yaqoob said.
Kyrgyzstan will next play Qatar tomorrow while Oman will take on Qatar on Sunday. With only one direct berth available from the group for the AFC Championship, to be hosted by Thailand next year, Oman will surely be looking for a victory against rivals Qatar in their last game.
