Muscat Bay places foundation stone for its new village square

Muscat: Muscat Bay celebrated the laying of the foundation stone of the new Village Square today, which extends over an area of more than 14,000 square metres. Sheikh Hamood bin Sultan Al Hosni, CEO of Muscat Bay laid the foundation stone to mark the start of the construction work which is handled by Oman Shapoorji LLC and it is expected to be completed by the middle of next year.
The new Village Square will include a range of facilities such as restaurants, cafes, a supermarket, a gym and a number of retail shops. It will extend over an area of 1,640 square metres and comprise of two levels, together with a car parking area, with a capacity for 81 cars, many of which are dedicated to people with special needs.
Addressing the media at the press conference, Sheikh Hamood Al Hosni stated, “The Village Square has been designed to preserve the authentic identity of Muscat Bay is therefore limited to just over 1,600 sqm.
This is to ensure that the remaining space is left for landscaping and for car parking, in order to create a comfortable atmosphere for visitors. One of the special features is the open space that extends to more than 75% of the total land area.
