Meeting held to boost dates marketing in Oman

Muscat: Male and female entrepreneurs in the field of dates production and marketing in the Sultanate attended a meeting, which was organised by the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries at the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) premises on Sunday.
The meeting was opened by Said bin Saleh Al Kiyoumi, OCCI Chairman.
The meeting aimed at developing the process of marketing Omani dates and disseminating the culture of marketing agricultural products among large segment of farmers.
Kiyoumi said that the Sultanate enjoys the presence of many species of date palms.
He hoped that SMEs would take the lead in producing and marketing dates so as the Omani date products reach globally. Dr. Ahmed bin Nasser Al Bakri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries for Agriculture, government officials concerned with dates sector, businessmen and journalists were also present.
