Muscat: Top Omani fashion designer Nawal Al Hooti launched her 2013 Ramadan and Eid collection at a fashion show at Bait Al Zubair on Saturday evening.
The self-taught designer, who is largely inspired by Omani heritage, presented a collection of dresses and jalabiyas that fused traditional and modern looks. Using a variety of silk, chiffon and other materials in many warm, rich colours, her designs reflected a both classic, fitted silhouettes and loose, flowing patterns.
The collection had a something to attract women who prefer simple, elegant clothing, as well as those who want to add some spice and flair to their wardrobes.
"It's a very nice collection, simple and easy to wear," said Shamsa Al Harthy, watching the models as they paraded down the runway.
Since showcasing her first collection in Muscat in 2003, Al Hooti has become a much sought-after designer in the region. She has represented Oman in the past three Muscat Fashion Weeks and shown collections in Italy and France.
Nawal Al Hooti's designs can be purchased at her boutiques in the Opera Galleria and Al Hail.
