Muscat: Mohammed Al Noufali, Oman’s first freestyle footballer, is enthralling football fans in Russia with his tricks, as part of the ongoing celebrations during the World Cup.
In a video being circulated on social media, Al Noufali is seen performing football tricks in front of a crowd of football fans on Russia’s public squares and roads during the two days of his trip to attend the most famous sporting event in the world.
“This is the first time I have attended the World Cup matches and have witnessed live this wonderful festive atmosphere,” Al Noufali said, adding, “I am not planning to perform my tricks in front of those attending the World Cup matches, because I don’t think anyone will stop and watch me, as people there are used to freestyle shows.”
“It all started while I was walking in the red arena in Russia, and I saw a group of young people playing football; that attracted me to perform some quick tricks in the midst of them. When I finished, I found a group of people standing around to watch me and they asked me to do more tricks and began to shoot videos,” Al Noufali added.
The encouragement prompted Al Noufali to perform more shows in Russia’s public squares.
He said: “Over two days, I did three shows and in each one, there were more and more people coming over to check out my skills. Some people asked me about my country and I told them about Oman.”
