Al Ansab STP project work 98% complete

Muscat: Work at Al Ansab Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) Phase II is at full swing and almost 98 per cent complete and is expected to be fully accomplished within the next few months, Eng. Khalid bin Hassan Al Lawati, Acting Projects General Manager at Haya Water said.
“The treatment plant is currently in the commissioning stage and the capacity of Al Ansab STP after this expansion will reach 125,000 cubic metres per day. The plant is equipped with state of art technology which is the membrane reactors technology known as MBR. This plant is considered to be one of the largest in the world that operates using this technology,” he said.
Al Ansab plant project has been divided into several stages to ensure scheduled and smooth implementing. The plant which was built and operated in 2010 accommodated 57,300 cubic metres per day and the capacity is expected to improve and increase to receive 125,000 cubic metres per day after expansion is complete. Furthermore, the capacity of the Al Ansab Plant will increase to 140,000 cubic metres per day after the completion of the Phase III by the end of 2022, Al Lawati added.
Haya Water projects in the Wilayat of Bausher, which are extended from Al Hamryah roundabout in Muttrah to the Muscat Wave, through Hilat Al Sadd, Al Wattayah, Al Qurum, Madinat Al Ilam, Madinat Al Sultan Qaboos, Al Sarouj, Al Khuwair, Al Ghoubrah, Al Athaibah, Baushar, Gala and Al Ansab, are considered the biggest projects which have been executed by the Company.
The total length of the sewage networks in the Wilayat of Bausher in the completed and progressed projects is about 660-km. This project has connected around 11,565 units to the sewage networks. In addition the treated water distribution networks length is about 87-km and the fibre optic length is about 528-km.
