Artist Gailani participates in ‘Art for Justice’ exhibition in Paris

The acclaimed Oman-based artist Ibrahim Gailani was selected to join an art exhibition that seeks to raise awareness about human trafficking and the exploitation of women around the world. Gailani was one of the artists who came from across the globe to stand together in support of victims of human trafficking. The two-week exhibition, entitled ‘Art For Justice’, was held in Paris.
Only in its second year, the Art for Justice exhibition served as a platform for art lovers and followers to open much-needed discussions about justice, and to see many people become involved from throughout the world.
“As an artist, we have a responsibility. When you’re making a painting and put out as a statement, you bring attention to it, you use the platform and talent that God has given you to send out a message to the universe and bring about some change,” said Gailani. In total, the exhibition hosted 15 artists who are luminaries in the field of art and represent unique backgrounds and different nationalities.

There were artists from the United Kingdom, the United States, South Africa, South Korea, Mexico, Poland, Kenya, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, and Oman.
Gailani stayed away from his pop-art aesthetic and opted for a more grim, black-and-white expression, to highlight the importance and the pain that these artworks represent.
“The ambience was almost sombre, we were all there not to celebrate but, rather, to have discussions and to raise voice for those who are not heard,” said the artist, adding that the exhibition was filled with support groups and victims of human trafficking, as well as religious groups who gave shelter to the victims. The artworks will be brought to Lisbon, Portugal, and then to other parts of Europe, after finishing its run in Paris.
