Muscat: The Shawwal Moon sighting Committee will gather tomorrow, Thursday, between 6:00-8:30 pm to confirm the sighting of Shawwal crescent.

"Tomorrow’s meeting will conclude if the first day of Eid is going to be on Friday or Saturday in the Sultanate," said Yousuf Al Rahbi, Assistant Director of Astronomy Affairs Department at the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs.

"For the past two days, the weather has been dusty to confirm about the first day of Eid in Oman. Therefore, tomorrow we will be sure to know if Thursday will be the last day of Ramadan or Friday," Al Rahbi told the Times of Oman.

He also added that it is likely that the crescent will remain in the skies of the Sultanate for up to 40 minutes before the sun sets in all governorates, which will help provide a clear vision of the Shawwal crescent.
